Mind Gym Influence: Day 1
So today while I was doing some reading of my "Athlete Bible" Mind Gym, I realized that since I'm a VERY mental athlete, I would do better to read it, write it, and then type it. So this is the online thread that goes with a journal I will be trying to remember to keep. For those that don't know Mind Gym is all about how your brain decides how your body will react in anything you do, and how the way you think things through can set you up for failure, or for winning. With my first hurdle of trying to get into Sub Pool early for Arizona Derby Dames' banked track league being a slight failure (I say slight because I know what I did wrong, and I actually did a LOT right, so I'm proud of myself...) its more of a stepping stone....I decided it was time to apply myself better. So here goes.
Positive thinking Day 1. It has been proven that it takes 30 days to break old habits and instill new habits. I will be breaking my old negative thought habits, and be instilling a more positive outlook. I will force my brain to focus on what it can do, and what I will do. Each day I will write 5 positive thoughts (tonight I got three of five, but they are aimed for tomorrow's thought process). the challenge will be for me to incorporate them throughout the day. Since I have derby practice tomorrow I'll start my positive thoughts with the things I will do right that I'm currently mentally struggling with.
- I will properly execute a transition going to the coping first
- I will properly execute a turn around toe stop on the infield coming off the track
- I will properly execute a turn around toe stop on the track with speed
3/5 isn't bad for the first try. I will probably come up with more tomorrow on the way to practice...or even during practice. I'm a work in progress. I will hold myself accountable, but feel free to nag me if I don't post...if anyone is reading this.
